School's Facilities

Boarding

We have a state-of-the-art boarding facility for both boys and girls. We offer beddings to all  boarding students at no extra cost.  Beddings include a thick mattress, bed sheets, duvet, pillow and pillowcase. Each dormitory is manned by an in-house Dorm Warden and a Matron to oversee the boarders’ welfare. Boarding is optional for students in all classes. To ensure there is a continued link between parent and child, we encourage parents to call their children daily using the availed school cell phone lines, before the evening prep. We do not have visiting days but instead we encourage parents with boarding children to sign out their children on weekends at their convenience. Children can be signed out on Fridays and returned on Sundays. Laundry service is provided in the school.

Community Service

Mt. Longonot School embraces the God-given responsibility of service to humanity. We therefore inculcate the virtue of being mindful of the welfare of others by engaging in various community service activities. The school has given full and partial Scholarships to a number of needy and deserving children from the community. We also have a community service programme with neighbouring public primary schools and children homes. Our students participate in charity walks for a good cause as well as environment awareness campaigns such as tree planting, cleaning and bird-feeding.

Music

We have a robust music programme manned by the very best Music teachers. Classroom music is offered free to all students at all levels. It comes with training in voice, theory of music and playing the recorder as well as basic lessons in playing the keyboard. There are also optional lessons in playing musical instruments such as guitar, violin, viola, cello and drums. For these instruments, interested students pay an extra fee for training.

School Trips

The school recognizes the place of diverse exposure in the wellbeing of an individual student. To enhance this exposure, we conduct varied school trips both educational and leisure. This year, we will go on a two nights, three days tour of Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks.

Drama

Among our cherished endeavours is to discover and develop talent. A major step in doing this is to expose learners to different avenues for talent discovery. Drama is integrated in our timetable and our students get two drama lessons in a week. Lessons are taught by a qualified trainer with learners being exposed to acting, scriptwriting, play and film production among other related skills.
